Description:
This book is an anthology of 16 stories by writers from around the African continent which look at the relationships we have with farm animals, pets and wildlife. It explores some of the fundamental principles of life on earth, and how we share this space with animals in a variety of ways. Through the day to day stories, the children can truly understand the link between all living creatures.
The stories will heighten a child’s sensibilities and attitudes towards all living creatures. The resource makes students aware of animal welfare issues that affect many societies. It will help children learn to respect the feelings of animals and to understand the suffering that humans inflict on them when we abandon, neglect or abuse them.
Contents:
There are three parts, with 16 stories and 26 activities:
1. Farm and Working Animals (five stories and six activities).
2. Companion Animals (five stories and 10 activities).
3. Wildlife (six stories and 10 activities).
There is a glossary of terms at the end of the book.
